My name is Jason Gant and I am the Director of Student Ministries at The United Methodist Church of the Resurrection. I work with the best staff team in all of youth ministry reaching 6th grade-college life. I also lead the "Vibe" worship venue on Sunday mornings in the Student Center. I just released my first book (a ministry guide between Resurrection and Abingdon Press designed to encourage and equip youth ministry leaders in the smaller church setting). I am married to Scharme, and we have two daughters.

first joint presidential appearance at Saddleback

When I first read this, I couldn't help but feel incredibly jealous, then once I got past my sinful selfishness, I was elated. I remember Adam Hamilton throwing out the idea many months back of pursuing this at Resurrection.

I think it speaks a great deal that the first joint presidential campaign appearance will be in a church. I love that each candidate saw not only the value in this, but also took the risk politically to allow Rick Warren to guide the dialogue. Pretty Cool!

Picked this up off Kurt Johnson's blog. Kurt is the junior high guy at Saddleback, and now with Doug moving into a more formal teaching pastor role, Kurt will be moving the student ministries vision forward with Josh Griffin. I have recently spent some time with these guys and love their hearts and desire to learn ways in which their own ministry needs to grow!

Jason - That is really exciting, but yes there was a moment of wondering what it would have been like if it were to be at Resurrection. * sigh * In any case, I think that this will be a great event. I am excited to hear them together.

I will probably only find it interesting/meaningful if they have some kind of dance-off.

That's so exciting! I wish I would have known about this before now. It's held on Saturday, August 16 and I come back from Saddleback on that day (well, the training event ends on Friday night).
